Clinician – LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LSW, or LAC

Master’s level therapists are required to hold either a provisional (LAC/LSW) or clinical (LPC/LCSW/LMFT) license in New Jersey to provide intensive in-community (IIC) services to address emotional, behavioral, and social needs. This goal-oriented, solution-focused service can be delivered in the home or community and is intended to stabilize challenges using a variety of treatment approaches in collaboration with the youth and family to promote sustainable change. Clinicians design individualized treatment plans that focus on symptom reduction and skill development to restore or maintain the youth’s functioning. Interventions commonly include psychoeducation, symptom management, teaching effective coping skills, developing strategies for emotional/behavioral regulation, problem-solving, and skill-building that enhances self-fulfillment. IICs specialize in working with a variety of presenting problems including but not limited to mental health concerns, trauma history, developmental challenges, substance use issues, and juvenile justice involvement.

Behavioral Assistant – Bachelor’s Degree in related field

Behavioral assistants work in conjunction with a clinician to provide additional support to youth with behavioral challenges. This service focuses on assisting the youth/family with developing healthy and positive coping strategies as well as addressing target behaviors. BAs are required to complete training through Rutgers within 6 months of hire, maintain their certification in good standing, and operate under the direction of a licensed clinician to further enhance treatment services. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to gain knowledge, skills, and experience for pursuing a graduate degree in counseling or social work.

Respite Provider – High School Diploma or Equivalent and some experience

A great entry-level position for those wanting to pursue a career path in a healthcare or social service field, respite providers offer temporary relief to families from the responsibilities of caring for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities allowing parents/guardians to engage in self-care, complete necessary tasks, and/or attend to other family members while ensuring their child is properly supervised. We offer training to work with I/DD youth in the home as well as community-based settings to ensure safety while promoting engagement in recreational activities. This level of service also provides positive opportunities and experiences for the youth as well as those looking to gain experience with a special needs population.

Mentor – High School Diploma or Equivalent and some experience

This role focuses on establishing positive, supportive relationships with youth dealing with a variety of challenges. Mentors have the opportunity to share knowledge, skills, and life experience to encourage youth to achieve their full potential. Engagement in recreational activities is an essential element of this service as it provides a foundation for community integration and the development of a natural support network. Mentoring targets personal, academic, and vocational development through informal skills-teaching to enhance problem-solving and decision-making with a focus on growth and success. Goals are geared toward developing productive leisure activities, identifying positive social outlets, and linking youth to appropriate resources within the community. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Tutor – High School Diploma or Equivalent and some experience

Ideal for those who are currently in college and interested in teaching, tutors provide individualized guidance and instruction to support youth with becoming independent learners. Whether needing assistance in a particular subject area or to develop basic skills for academic success, this service aims to improve learning strategies to promote achievement.
