In-Home & Community

Intensive In-Community (IIC)

Provided by master’s level therapists who hold either a provisional (LAC/LSW) or clinical (LPC/LCSW/LMFT) license in New Jersey, Intensive In-Community services utilize a goal-oriented approach to address emotional, behavioral, and social needs. This solution-focused service is intended to stabilize challenges using a variety of treatment approaches in collaboration with the youth and family to promote sustainable change. Interventions commonly consist of psychoeducation, symptom management, developing coping strategies, teaching effective problem-solving, and skill-building that enhances self-fulfillment. IIC providers specialize in working with a variety of presenting problems, including but not limited to mental health concerns, history of trauma, substance use issues, and juvenile justice involvement.

Intensive In-Home (IIH)

Comparable to Intensive In-Community, Intensive In-Home services are also rendered by provisionally and clinically licensed therapists but who specialize in working with youth with intellectual/developmental disabilities. IIH providers must possess knowledge of the multifaceted challenges that accompany complex diagnoses such as autism, cerebral palsy, and down syndrome. Treatment goals generally center around needs related to behavior management, communication, and self-regulation to improve the overall functioning of youth in the home.

Behavioral Assistance (BA)

Incorporated to supplement intensive IIC services, Behavioral Assistants work in conjunction with a clinician to provide additional support to youth with behavioral challenges. This service focuses on addressing target behaviors and developing healthy coping strategies. BAs are required to complete training through Rutgers within 6 months of hire, maintain their certification in good standing, and operate under the direction of a licensed clinician to further enhance treatment outcomes.

Individual Support Services (ISS)

Individual Support Services are available exclusively for DD-eligible youth. Providers are required to hold a bachelor’s degree and have some experience working with youth diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disabilities. ISS focuses on assisting youth with developing skills related to basic and instrumental activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, hygiene, and safety. Parents/caregivers are an integral part of sessions to ensure the transfer of identified techniques to foster increased functional independence.

Family Support Services (FSS) - (Respite)

Respite services offer temporary relief to families from the responsibilities of caring for youth with intellectual/developmental disabilities by allowing parents/guardians to engage in self-care, complete necessary tasks, and/or attend to other family members while their child is properly supervised. Providers work with I/DD youth in the home as well as community-based settings to ensure safety while promoting engagement in recreational activities.
